Rock deposits laid down by glaciers |
So I just got off my plane from Florida yesterday and I was too tired to explore. I was thinking about blogging on the plane ride, but I didn't have much to say. This is officially my first day in Yellowknife and I want to do so many things. From my plane ride I saw a lot of sceneries and I realized how beautiful Canada truly is. The weather is pretty chilly for August, but it is better than always spending money on AC in Florida. Today I decided to go fishing at Yellowknife River. Fishing, hunting and trapping are the biggest ecotourism activities to do here. Hopefully I can get my hunting licence soon. I am driving to Yellowknife river and I notice there is a lot of rolling terrain dotted with uplands, separated by wetlands forming a lot of bogs and dens. There are many rock deposits laid down by glaciers, shaped into a mosaic of ridges and eskers, it is so beautiful. Near the river I see a lot of wetlands with peat plateau and fens as well as a lot of moss. I was able to catch a huge fish that I will eat for dinner. We were driving back and I saw a caribou getting shot, probably for dinner. There were many other animals like ducks, loons, geese, and swans. I am getting really tired now, I think it is time to sleep in my trailer because it is getting very cold ! :S
